Raquel Pennington, a close friend of Amber Heard, testified by video deposition about injuries she observed and events she witnessed during Heard’s relationship with Johnny Depp. She described cuts on Heard’s forearms after Heard returned from Australia and other injuries she saw in 2015 and 2016. Pennington said her understanding of what caused those injuries came from Heard; she had not witnessed Depp inflict them.
Pennington described placing herself over Heard during a May 21, 2016 confrontation while Depp stood above them yelling. She acknowledged that she did not see Depp touch or throw anything at Heard. She authenticated photographs of injuries and property damage from December 2015 and May 2016 and denied staging any scene. Asked about an earlier trip to Hicksville, she described a verbal outburst at a campfire and disarray the next morning, but said she did not witness the alleged disturbance inside the trailer.
