Yarelyn Mena contacted Morgan Night after former Hicksville innkeepers offered to pass his phone number to Depp’s attorneys. Night testified that Mena asked what he remembered of the evening at Hicksville, asked whether he would be willing to testify, and told him not to watch coverage of the case while the team decided whether to call him.

When Heard’s counsel questioned Night about his exposure to the trial, he acknowledged that he had watched a short clip and searched Twitter for Hicksville before Mena contacted him. He said he replied to one post about an incident by the fire pit, but had avoided further coverage after Mena’s instruction. Night distinguished that contact from a later meeting with Camille Vasquez, who, he said, asked about his own experience without sharing other witnesses’ testimony.
