Andrew Crawford

Andrew Crawford conducted the direct and redirect examination of Starling Jenkins III in video testimony. He asked about Jenkins’s observations of Amber Heard after an April 2016 dispute, her reported account of property thrown from a balcony, and what she told him about the bed incident. Jenkins testified that he saw no injuries on Heard and that she described the bed incident as a practical joke gone wrong.

On cross-examination, opposing counsel questioned Jenkins about his paid employment and loyalty to Depp, a difference between his phone-location testimony and a UK witness statement, and incidents he had not witnessed. On redirect, Crawford returned to the statement passage to complete Jenkins’s account of recovering Depp’s phone. He also asked Jenkins to clarify which sister became ill at Coachella; Jenkins identified Heard.

Later, when the parties discussed Dr. Alan Blaustein’s notes, Crawford disputed opposing counsel’s characterization that they were all Depp’s statements. He distinguished the doctor’s interpretations and notes to himself. The court admitted the exhibit with only the portions read during the deposition included and the rest redacted.
